Baku. Victoria Dementeva – APA. “The construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is a strategic project for Georgia and hasty statements made on the eve of the visit to Azerbaijan may be detrimental to the relations with our strategic partner”, said the MP Giorgi Vashadze at today's meeting of the parliament, APA reports quoting “Gruziya online”.

He said this project is alternative to Russian railway that will connect Europe and Asia.

“In this regard, it is obvious whose interests do the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Project not meet. At the same time, I would like to say that it means investing $ 700 million in Georgia. It means thousands of new jobs, millions of dollars of income. I hope that such issues will be deeply studied to prevent problems for such large-scale projects in future”.

On the eve of his visit to Azerbaijan Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili said he doubted Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project's efficiency for Georgia.
