First vice-speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament: â€œGUAM has started to play more powerful role in ensuring regional securityâ€

Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. The broad meeting is being held at the Azerbaijani Parliament as a part of the 5th meeting of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly. APA reports that GUAM PA chairman, member of the Azerbaijani Parliament Elton Mammadov, Secretary General of GUAM Valeri Chechelashvili, as well as the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov and the first vice-speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov are attending the meeting.

Chairing the meeting Asgarov said it is the broadest meeting of the organization up to now. Regional integration processes have been widely spread: “GUAM has started to play more powerful role in ensuring regional security. I am sure that GUAM will become one of the world's most influential organizations in the near future.”

Asgarov said that the role of parliamentary diplomacy is increasing in modern times: “In this regard, we understand the importance of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly very well.”
