APA reports that the above-mentioned law has been annulled. Besides it, the law # 67-IIIQ of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed on March 1, 2006 on the confirmation of Memorandum “Between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran for facilitated travel of Azerbaijan’s citizens permanently residing in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the citizens of Iran” has been also abolished.
Note that, Azerbaijani parliament passed a bill on the annulment of agreement covering the facilitated travel of Azerbaijani and Iranian citizens living in the borderline regions on December 11. Intergovernmental memorandums signed in 2005 and 2006 on the facilitated border crossing in the territory of Nakhchivan and covering the citizens of both countries living 45 km from the border were annulled under the bill. The decision imposes a ban on Iranian citizens living in the border regions. Up to now citizens living 45 kilometers from the border of the two countries could enter the territory of Azerbaijan without visa, but after the annulment of the afforementioned memorandums Iran's citizens of this category must get a visa to come to our country.
