Thus, we know that the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is very important for these two countries, which are the members of the Council of Europe. But these two countries should know that the issues such as democracy and the rule of law are very important for them,” said Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn while responding to the question of the Azerbaijani delegation member Rafael Huseynov about the construction of an airport in Nagorno Karabakh by Armenia, APA’s Europe bureau reports.

He expressed his confidence that human rights, the rule of law and strengthening of democracy are the best way to restore peace and solve the conflicts.

“This is our role, recommendations in this issue. If we can realize the abovementioned issues, we will be able to remove the black spot like Nagorno Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia and other conflicts. First of all, human rights must be ensured, fair judicial systems established everywhere. All people must enjoy equal human rights as other European nations. We will continue our activities with Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.
