Chairman of European Committee for Prevention of Torture Latif Huseynov meets Turkish Justice Minister

Baku – APA. Chairman of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture Latif Huseynov met Turkish Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin in Ankara. APA reports that the outcomes of Committee’s monitoring visit to Turkey’s Imrali Island Prison were discussed at the meeting. The negotiations were focused on the detention conditions of PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan who was sentenced to life imprisonment on Imrali Island and five other detainees, issues on ensuring their rights of access to legal assistance and rights to meet with their relatives.

Latif Huseynov told APA that the meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere. High level cooperation between the Turkish government and European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and the importance of deepening this cooperation was stressed at the meeting.
