Baku hosts event on 34th anniversary of Iranian Islamic Revolution

Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. The event on the 34th anniversary of Iranian Islamic Revolution has been held in Baku. Delivering the opening speech at the event Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen said the whole world has recognized the Iranian Islamic Revolution as the greatest revolution in the history of modern world, APA reports. He said the Islamic Republic that is prone neither to the West, nor to communism was founded under the leadership of Imam Khomeini. Iran has become one of the leading states of the world: “Despite sanctions imposed by the West, Iran achieved progress in nuclear energy, nanotechnology, aerospace and medical spheres thanks to young professionals. Iran's nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. The International Atomic Energy Agency has repeatedly issued a statement regarding the violation of international norms in this process.”

Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Economic Development Niyazi Safarov said that economic cooperation between the two countries is at the highest level. He said the two countries have signed a number of bilateral agreements since the diplomatic relations were established. Touching on several meetings of the intergovernmental commission between the two countries the Deputy Minister said that these relations would further develop.

Government officials, foreign ambassadors to Azerbaijan and others attended the meeting.
