Strasbourg. Fuad Gulubeyli-APA. Azerbaijani Embassy in France issued a special statement. According to APA’s Europe bureau the statement says that two Azerbaijanis were beaten at the event entitled "Sumgait events after 25 years: the present situation and future prospects for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh" held by the Armenian Issues Bureau in France in the French National Assembly on February 26:

Azerbaijan-born citizen of France, chairperson of Paris-based “House of Azerbaijan” Mirvari Fataliyeva and Azerbaijani student Vusal Huseynov attended the event and were beaten by about 40 Armenians. The incident happened at the end of the event. Ms.Fataliyeva said: “Today we mark the 21st anniversary of Khojaly genocide. The Armenian armed forces killed 613 civilians in Khojaly on February 26, 1992 during Nagorno-Karabakh war. We commemorate those victims today.” Following her words the Armenians closed the doors of Colbert hall of French National Assembly and brutally beat both Azerbaijanis.

Vusal Huseynov, who tried to protect Mirvari Fataliyeva from punches, was seriously injured. Both of our compatriots were hospitalized. Azerbaijani ambassador to France Elchin Amirbeyov, who immediately arrived at the site, expressed his concern over this incident: “We decisively condemn this rude, violent and shameful incident committed by Armenian Diaspora’s activists at the parliament, the symbol of France. At the same time, we hope that in order to prevent such incidents in the future the perpetrators will be indentified soon and brought to justice.”
