APA's Washington correspondent reports that the members of Azerbaijani diapora in the US and Americans, who are interested in Azerbaijan, attended the event.
In his speech, Azerbaijani ambassador to the US Elin Suleymanov said although 20 January is a day of mourning and grief, it can also be regarded as the day of establishment of modern statehood of Azerbaijan uniting hundreds of thousands under the national flag: “We must not forget our martyrs, who died on January 20, 1990. We owe them for the fact that now we have Azerbaijani passport.”
Correspondent of “Voice of America” radio and Iranian Azerbaijani Habib Azersin mentioned that he heard shots while interviewing by phone the eyewitnesses of the tragedy.
