The meeting was co-chaired by Mahmud Mammadguliyev, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister and Gunnar Wiegand, Director of Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Co-operation and OSCE at the European External Action Service.
All the aspects of Azerbaijan-EU relations, further cooperation opportunities, settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, activities carried out as a part of the European Neighbourhood Policy and Eastern Partnership were discussed at the meeting.
The parties underlined the progress made in the negotiations on the association, readmission and visa facilitation agreements between EU and Azerbaijan and noted the importance of continuing the discussions. Moreover, cooperation on energy, transportations and education were discussed. EU representatives stressed that Azerbaijan is one of the main bulwarks in European energy security and diversification of energy resources, as well as in the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project and highly estimated the importance of TANAP project in this regard.
