Baku. Malahat Najafova - APA. The Armenian delegation did not attend the 40th meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Baku, APA reports. Member of the Armenian parliament, head of the country's delegation to PA BSEC Gagik Minasyan said they were planning to attend the meeting. On November 20, co-chair of BSEC, speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Ogtay Asadov was sent a letter regarding the security of the Armenian delegation, but no answer was received.
"Since we received no answer, we could not come to Azerbaijan," he said.
Spokesman for Azerbaijani parliament Akif Tevekkuloglu told APA that the letter of invitation was sent to the Armenian delegation in August.
"When a letter is sent, it is noted that the countries' security will be ensured. There is no need to send an additional letter to Armenia," he said.
Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to BSEC Asef Hajiyev told APA that it is another game of Armenia.
Hajiyev also noted that the letter of invitation was sent in August, it was said that there was no problem in ensuring the security: “I attended the meeting of the BSEC in Yerevan in May. I have not also received a letter of guarantee. They don’t want to come, that’s why they tell lies. The speaker of the Armenian parliament also tells lies. First they said that they didn’t receive a letter of invitation, however as mentioned, the letter was sent in August. Later, they said that the letter has been already received.”
According to Hajiyev, about 200 political parties from foreign countries, including leader of the “Heritage” Party of Armenia Raffi Hovannisian attended meeting of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in Baku. He has not also received a letter of guarantee: “No letter is needed for participation. Azerbaijan is a stable country, there is no need to guarantee any foreigner’s security here.”
