Baku. Shamil Alibeyli – APA. “As Ramil Safarov’s extradition was purely a legal process, it had no impact on our relations,” said Hungary’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Zsolt Csutora in his interview to APA.
Touching on the suspension of the diplomatic relations between Hungary and Armenia after Ramil Safarov’s extradition to Azerbaijan, the diplomat said that the decision on Ramil Safarov’s extradition was not passed against any country: “Unfortunately, Armenia has stopped diplomatic relations with our country. We are trying to normalize the relations with Armenia and hope this issue will be solved as soon as possible. We have no hostility to anyone and we are trying to have good relations with everybody.”
Clarifying his position on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Csutora said that the settlement of the conflict was possible only through peaceful way: “It is important that the parties stay at the negotiating table. It is also of great importance that OSCE Minsk Group fulfills its duties and provide assistance to the sides. Currently, the relations between Hungary and Armenia are not so good, our diplomatic relations have been suspended. Therefore, Hungary is unlikely to be able to help in this matter. But our approach has not changed. Hungary recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. We stand against aggression and war.”
Asked about the state of the bilateral relations, Ambassador said there is strategic partnership between the countries.
“We have no dispute, discrepancy, political, economic, cultural and sports relations are on the high level. Taking a look at the past, I can say that Hungary was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence and to establish diplomatic relations with your country. We expect Azerbaijan’s President to visit Budapest this year,” he said.
