The Commission of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan against Foreign Interventions and Hybrid Threats issued a statement regarding the fake news recently circulated about Azerbaijan, APA reports.
The statement notes that amid recent events in the region, the Republic of Azerbaijan has faced a new wave of disinformation campaigns, which are one of the widespread types of hybrid threats.
As a result of the analysis of ongoing monitoring, it has been determined that information campaigns against Azerbaijan are being organized via social media platforms by groups operating in the territories of neighboring countries, serving various circles and interests:
"Despite the official position of the Republic of Azerbaijan being voiced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and state officials regarding the ongoing processes, distorted and fake information is being spread through activities on platforms such as Telegram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and YouTube.
The aim of these actions, which are intended to mislead the conflict parties as well as the international community, is to undermine our country's increasing reputation and damage its relations with friendly and brotherly countries.
It should be noted with regret that among those supporting these information campaigns against our state, there are also persons of Azerbaijani origin and our citizens.
The Temporary Commission on Foreign Interventions and Hybrid Threats, together with the relevant state bodies, is carefully monitoring these activities directed against our state and taking appropriate response measures.
We call on all interested parties, including our citizens, to trust only official information and to fight against such fake information spread by malicious forces.”
