The 24th meeting of the Interparliamentary Cooperation Commission between the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation was held today, APA reports.
The meeting was opened by the co-chairs of the commission — First Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ali Ahmadov and First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Andrey Yatskin.
Issues related to the development of healthcare, medical education, medical science, humanitarian ties, and interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.
Ali Ahmadov stated that the issues included on the agenda cover important areas of Azerbaijan-Russia cooperation.
“The issues included in the agenda of the 24th meeting of the commission cover various areas of Azerbaijan-Russia cooperation and create new opportunities for further expanding the partnership,” he stressed.
First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Andrey Yatskin, in turn, noted that healthcare and education were among the main topics of discussion at the meeting.
“I am confident that the commission’s activities in this direction will be constructive and that the decisions to be adopted will contribute to the development of parliamentary diplomacy, cooperation in the healthcare sector, the training of medical personnel, and educational ties,” he said.
Yatskin emphasized that humanitarian ties occupy an important place in Azerbaijan-Russia relations.
“There are extensive humanitarian and people-to-people ties connecting our countries. We would like the commission’s activities to contribute to further strengthening these relations,” he added.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on the implementation of the interparliamentary commission’s roadmap for 2024–2026 and areas of cooperation for the next period.
Members of the interparliamentary commission from Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as representatives of relevant state institutions, participated in the event.
