Session highlights role of public-private partnerships in strengthening regional connectivity

A session titled "Cross-Border Infrastructure Projects through Public-Private Partnerships for Strengthening Regional Connectivity" was held within the framework of the Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group held under the patronage of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, APA-Economics reports.

Speaking at the session, Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli emphasized the role of public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms in the development of regional infrastructure, attraction of private investment and ensuring sustainable economic growth. Information was provided on Azerbaijan’s efforts to develop regional transport and logistics connectivity, as well as reforms and projects implemented in the field of public-private partnerships.

The importance of cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank Group was also highlighted, and prospects for expanding collaboration in transport, renewable energy, water security and digital infrastructure were discussed.

In their speeches, Ahmed Rostom, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Elmir Musayev, CEO of SOCAR Green LLC, Mohammad Ashek Moyid, Acting General Manager of the Banking Department at the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector, and other participants stressed the important role of PPP mechanisms in financing regional transport, energy and other infrastructure projects, attracting private investment, strengthening cross-border connectivity and promoting sustainable economic development.

The discussions underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation on infrastructure projects implemented through public-private partnerships in order to strengthen regional connectivity.
