Islamic Development Bank Group President: We reaffirm our commitment to Azerbaijan’s reconstruction and development efforts

“Let us recall how, from the Silk Road to the modern era, this land has for centuries transformed its geographical position into shared opportunities by connecting East and West, North and South," said President of the Islamic Development Bank Group Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser during his speech at the opening ceremony of the Islamic Development Bank Group’s 2026 Annual Meetings, APA reports.

He stated that Azerbaijan’s story is not only a story of connectivity, but also one of resilience and renewal.

“In this regard, I would like to share a brief impression from my recent visit to Shusha. The rich heritage of Shusha, the pearl of Karabakh, lives on in the person of figures such as the poetess and philanthropist Khurshidbanu Natavan. She is an enduring symbol of cultural resilience and compassion.

I was deeply moved by the following lines of the People's Poet Mohammad Araz:

Rise up, Azerbaijan, I am with you
Other than you, we can share everything

These words reflect the spirit of a people who have never lost hope and form the foundation of our partnership with Azerbaijan.

We are proud to be the first multilateral development bank to visit the liberated territories of Karabakh, reaffirming our commitment to Azerbaijan’s reconstruction and development efforts,” Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser emphasized.
