Baku. Tamara Grigoryeva – APA. Special representative of the European Union for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby has today met with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, APA reports. Peter Semneby said after the talks that Azerbaijan’s role in the energy security of Europe, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, pre-election situation, steps taken for holding free and fair elections and other issues had been discussed during the meeting. The special representative said they had exchanged views on the state of media and underlined that release of journalists had not been discussed.
Touching upon Nagorno Karabakh conflict Peter Semneby said preference should be given only to the peaceful solution. He underlined the role of Minsk Group in the process of settlement of the conflict and said they supported the co-chairs’ activity.
