He said that they filmed in different places of Baku – Opera and Ballet Theater, seaside, mosques and villages of Baku. Azerbaijani actors Rafig Aliyev and Mirza Agayev will act in the film. Shooting of the film started three years ago, some scenes were shot in Paris, Berlin, Istanbul and Czechia.
The producer said that Mustafa Shokay was a historical person wishing to unite all Turkish-speaking peoples under Islam flag. After soviet power was established in Kazakhstan Mustafa Shokay along with his wife Marina Gorina left for Europe through Tbilisi, Batumi and Istanbukl.
The cast wanted to shoot scenes in Georgia there was no suitable equipment there. Batumi views were set up in Baku.
“There was liberation movement in Kazakhstan early last century, like in Azerbaijan, the participants of the movement were called alashardis. They only thought of Kazakhstan and Kazakh people. But Mustafa Shokay was concerned about the entire Turkish world. Therefore Mustafa Shokay migrated to Europe after soviet power in Kazakhstan was pursued by Stalin’s order. They twice tried to kill him, but couldn’t,” he said.
The producer said that Mustafa Shokay rescued 18,000 captured Muslims during World War II.
“Germans first captured Muslims. As the first row defending Moscow were Muslims. The fascists did not know what to do with the first captives. Foreign Minister Ribbentrop called Mustafa Shokay living in Paris for negotiations. They offered Shokay to set up Turkustan legion of Muslims and promised to make him governor on the East. Mustafa Shokay wrote a letter to Ribbentrop early in December 1941.
“Heine, Hoete, Beethoven came from Germany. But I refuse cooperating with your since fascists treat war prisoners brutally,” he said.
The producer said Mustafa Shokay sentenced himself with this letter.
“Several days after sending the letter Mustafa Shokay was hospitalized with typhoid in Victoriya hospital, Berlin and died and was buried in Berlin cemetery. There are some doubtful points about Mustafa Shokay’s death in his wife’s diary,” he said.
Satibaldi Narimbetov said that Shokay was acquainted with one of the leaders of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic Mammadamin Rasulzade.
“I regret that due to the lack of time I can not shoot scene about this acquaintance,” he said.
The producer, made his last film “Leyla’s ” five years ago said he wishes to make film with Rustem Ibrahimbayov and told him that he wants to make a film on his script “Attack”.
