According to Aliyev, the threatening statements of the Armenian side concerning this have no negative influence on Azerbaijan.
“I can not say what they will achieve by making such statements. Khankendi is the territory of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan’s permission is required for flights there. We have appealed to the International Civil Aviation Organization several times. If Armenia bans flights, or commits an unpleasant action, we will take relevant measures,” he said.

Hajiaga Aliyev said as alternative routes Azerbaijan will be able to use Georgia’s airspace in the flights to Turkey and Iran’s airspace in the flights to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

From May 9, Armenia will launch flights to the new airport build in Azerbaijan’s occupied town of Khankendi.
Director of Azerbaijan State Civil Aviation Administration Arif Mammadov told journalists that the Azerbaijani side will take adequate measures, even take physical destruction measures, they informed the International Civil Aviation Organization about it.
The Armenian side stated that in exchange for it the airspace will be closed for Azerbaijani planes. OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs called on the sides to be restrained and not to use force against civil planes.
