He said the situation in Damascus was calm and no protest actions have been held in the city. “The embassy contacted with all Azerbaijani citizens residing and working in Syria and gave them necessary instructions. Some of them addressed the embassy during the unrests. The situation is not so tense and no needs in evacuation, but our citizens can leave Syria when they wish it. We are ready to help them in preparing necessary documentsâ€.
More than 110 Azerbaijani citizens are residing and working in Syria now. The embassy of Azerbaijan is also working in normal regime.
Clashes between the protesters and government forces have taken place in some cities of Syria last week. At least 25 people have been killed in Deraa.
