Agenda of PACE spring session confirmed

Baku – APA. The Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) confirmed the agenda of the spring session at the meeting held in Paris on March 10, APA reports quoting AzerTAc state agency. The agenda of the spring session that will be held on April 11-15 will be confirmed on the first day of the session, the Bureau and the Standing Committee will make reports on their activity following the winter session, Ahmet Davutoglu, Foreign Minister of Turkey, which is chairing the Committee of Ministers, will address the session, answer oral and written questions of the parliamentarians.

The judges to the European Court of Human Rights from France, Norway and Switzerland will be elected, high-ranking religious figures from Romania, Vatican, Turkey, Russia and Germany will address the session, honoring of commitments by Georgia, education against violence at school will be discussed on April 12.

Combating poverty, threat posed to democracy and human rights, challenge to the EU Eastern Partnership on economic development and governance in Eastern Europe, rural women in Europe, death penalty in the Council of Europe member states and observers of the Council of Europe, improvement of the mechanism on combating torture in Europe, water – a source of conflict will be discussed in the following days.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland and President of the International Commission against the Death Penalty Federico Mayor Zaragoza will address the session.

The European parliamentarians will express their views on the happenings in the Arab world.

PACE Bureau will complete the spring session on April 15.

The agenda of the PACE spring session does not contain an issue on Azerbaijan.
