Turkish parliament ratifies Azerbaijan-Turkey strategic partnership and mutual assistance treaty

The document was ratified in the parliament’s plenary session on March 10, APA reports quoting the press center of the Turkish parliament.

The treaty was signed by Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Abdullah Gul in Baku on August, 2010. Azerbaijani parliament ratified it on December, 2010.

The document contains points related to the military-political and security issues, defense ad defense industry cooperation, economic cooperation, humanitarian issues and common and final points.

The ten-year treaty considers mutual assistance between the countries to fulfill right of individual and collective self-defense according to the Article 51 of UN Charter while facing intervention and aggression by the third country or a group of countries. The countries confirmed their consent to cooperation on defense and technical supply for defense needs and security, defense services, production of defense goods, joint trainings and exercises, training of experts for armed forces, military medicine and other issues.
