US ambassador meets with Azerbaijani business women for International Women Day

Baku. Victoria Dementieva â€“ APA. U.S Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza and Mrs. Zeyno Baran-Bryza on March 7 hosted a reception to commemorate the 100th observance of International Womenâ€™s Day. According to APA, 18 Azerbaijani business women, including APA Groupâ€™s Director General Vusala Mahirgizi were invited to the meeting. Mrs. Zeyno Baran-Bryza told journalists before the meeting that they intend to support increase of womenâ€™s role in the society. â€œGender equality is very important for the development. The justice and stability can not be established without that. I hope 21st century will be womenâ€™s eraâ€.

Congratulating attendees on their achievements, Ambassador Bryza noted that both he and his wife recognized the importance of womenâ€™s empowerment. â€œWorking together with Azerbaijanâ€™s citizens, government, non-governmental organizations and international partners, myself and Zeyno will seek to identify actions that we, along with Azerbaijan citizens, government, non-governmental organizations, and international partners, can take to advance the cause of women so that Azerbaijan can benefit from the talents and full potential of its womenâ€, Ambassador Bryza told participants.

Ambassador Bryza praised the women as role models for younger generations of Azerbaijani women. He called upon them to act as mentors and support other women to consolidate and expand upon their generationâ€™s success, not just in business, but in all sectors.
