Deputy Minister of Azerbaijan’s FM Khalaf Khalafov pays visit to Hungary

Baku - APA. On February 28 – March 2, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov paid visit to Hungary for the purpose of holding political consultations, Azerbaijani embassy in Hungary told APA. On the first day of he visit Khalaf Khalafov held meetings with vice-president of Hungarian parliament Sándor Lezsák, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Hungary Jolt Nemeth, Deputy State Secretary for Security Policy (Political Director) Péter Sztáray, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Azerbaijan-Hungary Economic Cooperation on the Hungarian side Róża Nad, Chairman of Hungarian-Azerbaijani Interparliamentary Friendship Group Márton Gyöngyösi. Bilateral political, economic and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary, cooperation in energy security of the two countries, issues on intensification of activity of the Economic Cooperation on Intergovernmental Joint Commission were discussed at the meetings.

On March 1, briefing was held by the participation of Khalaf Khalafov at Azerbaijani embassy in Hungary for representatives of the diplomatic corps, local media representatives and representatives of international organizations in Budapest. The briefing started with the keynote speech of Azerbaijani ambassador to Hungary Vilayet Guliyev. Thereafter, deputy minister Khalafov gave the participants information about Azerbaijani-Hungarian ties, Azerbaijan’s energy policy and its contribution to European energy security, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and Khojaly genocide. At the end of his speech Khalafov invited to commemorate victims of Khojaly genocide with one-minute silence. Thereupon, the deputy minister answered questions of the participants.

Today, Khalaf Khalafov gave interview to public television of Hungary Duna TV on results of the visit, bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary, energy policy of our country.
