Chief of the department for law-enforcement bodies of the Presidential Administration Fuad Alasgarov, Assistant Prosecutor General Rustam Usubov, parliamentarians, scientists participated in the presentation of the website devoted to Sumgayit pogroms in February, 1988.

Fuad Alasgarov said Armenians post false materials on the internet, use them against the Azerbaijanis, attempt to introduce Sumgayit pogroms as â€œArmenian genocideâ€. Alasgarov noted that the criminal case on the Sumgayit happenings was updated, the then USSR under the leadership of Mikhail Gorbachov, pro-Armenian forces and Armenian nationalists had hand in the pogroms.
â€œState Security Committee prepared a special plan in Sumgayit. This scenario was later applied in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan,â€ he said.

The department chief said the newly-revealed moments in the criminal case show that the mass unrest in Sumgayit was organized by Edward Grigorian, his two brothers, emissaries sent from Nagorno Karabakh with special instructions and agents of the State Security Committee.
â€œEmissaries from Nagorno Karabakh gave instructions to Edward Grigorian, they gave him the list and addresses of the Armenians in Sumgayit, who did not transfer money to â€œKarabakhâ€, â€œKrunkâ€ organizations established by the separatists. These emissaries provided Grigorian with psychotropic drugs and alcohol drinks to distribute among the rioters to increase their aggression. These persons together with Edward Grigorian and his brother Albert Grigorian distributed cold steel arms among the people.â€

Alasgarov said the investigators identified that routes of the pogromists were determined previously and their actions were taped and broadcasted on the foreign TV channels.

Presenting the site, senior adviser of the political analysis and information department of the Presidential Administration Farhad Mammadov noted that during the investigation conducted before the site launch it was identified that Armenians bought domains related to Sumgayit. Therefore alongside with www.sumqait.com the same domains ended with .org and .net were bought and directed to the same site.

Then deputy prosecutor general Rustam Usubov, members of the parliament Musa Gasimli, Yagub Mahmudov, lawyer Aslan Ismayilov and others delivered speeches. Historian-scientist Yagub Mahmudov said books about the genocide acts committed by the Armenians against Azerbaijanis in the region of Iravan, Ganja and Baku are prepared. The Republican Prosecutor Office is planning to hold discussions on the facts of genocide soon.
