Baku – APA. On February 23, the discussions on Azerbaijan’s role in Eurasia were organized on the initiative of the Harvard University European Club. According to APA, Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles Elin Suleymanov addressed the event. He said Azerbaijan strengthened its statehood during 20 years of independence, and it allowed Baku to pursue foreign policy based on pragmatism and national interests.

Introducing successful Azerbaijan-Georgian regional cooperation as an example, the diplomat said Armenia is still in isolation in the region as a result of its stupid policy. He said despite 20-year independence Armenia’s dependence on foreign forces is increasing day by day.

The Consul General said unresolved conflicts remained as greatest threat to security and future of the region. In his opinion, Khojaly tragedy is the most terrible page of the conflict and once again necessity of the solution of this problem is on agenda on the eve of the anniversary of this tragedy.

Professor of Harvard University Karl Kaiser and former defense minister of Georgia David Sikharulidze also addressed the workshop.
