Foreign Ministry recommends Azerbaijani citizens to refrain from their trips to Yemen

The travel warning says that the anti-governmental demonstrations and the clashes between the police and the demonstrators started in Yemenâ€™s capital Sana and Aden city from the early February.

The FM recommends the Azerbaijani citizens to refrain from their travel to Sanaâ€™a, Aden, Saada, Dhamar, Maâ€™rib, Shabwah, Amran, Abyan and Jawf regions: â€œIt is possible to drive the car in Yemen on the basis of international driving license. The driving standards in the country are low, the mountain roads are very dangerous and riskful. It is not recommended to drive the car outside the main cities at night. If you want to travel with car outside capital Sanaâ€™a, you must have the permanent permission form Yemen Tourist Police. The travel permission is given within 24 hours and you can easily get it from travel agency. Without this permission the travel will have a result of your arrest and deportation. The piracy is a serious threat to the ships sailing in Aden gulf and Indian Ocean unless relevant security measures are takenâ€. Taking this into account the Azerbaijani citizens, who want to travel to Yemen, are recommended to be careful and to refrain from their travel to Yemen if it is not necessary.

We call the Azerbaijani citizens who permanently and temporary live in Yemen to observe the current rules and not to intervene to the riots and recommend them to appeal to Azerbaijani embassy in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the embassyâ€™s office in Jeddah city.

The addressees of all the embassies and consulates of the republic of Azerbaijan in the foreign countries are placed in the FMâ€™s website (www.mfa.gov.az). Azerbaijani citizens residing abroad permanently or temporarily are recommended to contact the embassies or consulates, be registered at the consulate in case of emergency situations or other threats.
