Former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan: If international monitoring on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh is not increased, the possibility that Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict boost again, grows

â€œNagorno-Karabakh adjustment process has extended for a much longer period than it was expectedâ€, Mr. Wilson said.

According to him, there is a need to increase international monitoring on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, â€œwhich is very weak right nowâ€.

â€œIf there is not done, the possibility that Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict boost again, growsâ€, Mr. Wilson told APA.

He also considers that the main goals of US policy on this region [South Caucasus] include keeping the sovereignty, development of the market economy and integration into Euro-Atlantic institution.

However, according to the former Ambassador, Nagorno-Karabakh among the other conflicts remains a main threat on regional security.

â€œRegional cooperation, as well as strengthening relations between Armenia and Turkey, will definitely help solving this problemâ€, he added.

Ian Brzezinski, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, also considers that the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh has â€œnoticeably sharpenedâ€, during past years which increases the regional tension.

â€œThe international community, including US donâ€™t take any concrete steps to solve the problemâ€, he complaints.
