Human rights activist released from Iranian jail

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. One of the activists of the movement for protecting the human rights of Azerbaijani Turks in Iran Ayat Mehralibeyli was conditionally released from jail, press service of the Southern Azerbaijan National Revival Movement (GAMOH) told APA.

Mehralibeyli was released after 286-day arrest on bail of $220 000. Other activist Latif Hasanli is still in jail for almost 270 days. His lawyers also appealed the court to release him conditionally.

Both persons were accused in membership of GAMOH Central Committee ad anti-government propaganda. Earlier Ayat Mehralibeyli and Latif Hasanli were arrested by the Iranian law-enforcement bodies during the rally to Bazz fortress several years ago.
