Chief of Iranian Border Police: â€œThe Caspian Seaâ€™s security is very important issue in the regionâ€

The Caspian littoral states must live in peaceâ€, said Chief of Iranian Border Police, General Hossein Zulfugari, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, APA reports. He said that the security agreement between the leaders of the Caspian littoral countries in Baku Summit was the main matter of discussion of littoral states border servicesâ€™ chiefs: â€œIt was decided to 5 countriesâ€™ border service chiefs to conduct certain investigations on it and to table the necessary security projects in the next meeting. If the achieved results are agreed, it will be given an order to establish a center for a common communication center of Caspian countries as well as the centre for information exchangeâ€.

According to the general, the deputy chiefs of border services will be acquainted with Iranâ€™s anti-drug and anti-terrorism activities on its eastern borders: â€œThis is the easiest option of transfer of these experiences to the experts of Caspian Sea region countries. The Caspian Seaâ€™s security is very important both for us -Azerbaijan and other Caspian Sea countriesâ€.

Zulfugari said that they held discussions on joint struggle against drug smuggling, human traffic and other crimes and welcomed the proposal to harden forfeits in the border system. â€œFour thousand police killed and 12 thousand injured during the operation against drug smuggling in Iran. 100 tons drugs are found in Iran during the year. These drugs are not produced in Iran, but were brought from the foreign countries. We spend about 10 mln USD for the security of Iranâ€™s eastern borders. We have constructed the high walls as well as use the electrical conductors. The foreign countries know Iranâ€™s efforts in drug-smuggling and sometimes they confess it. The western countries do not support us in this sphere. But our struggle is very useful for all countriesâ€.
