President Ilham Aliyev: â€œProducts made in Azerbaijan must meet the EU standardsâ€

That is, 500-km road will be ready for useâ€, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in his speech in front of region residents, APA reports citing Azertag.

The head of state noted that development of different spheres of agriculture was given big attention in Azerbaijan: â€œAzerbaijan will completely provide its food security. We have taken big steps in this direction. At present, we provide ourselves with main foodstuffs. But we must approach a market of other countries with ready, qualitative produce in future. Today, we export non-oil products to neighboring countries, that is main markets for us are neighboring countries. But we must enter the European markets more widely in future. For this, our products must meet the EU standards. Export potential of Azerbaijan will be multibranch, wider, will bring more income and living standards of people will improve. Our main purpose is improvement of peopleâ€™s living and development of country economy. Works done in this direction allowed todayâ€™s realitiesâ€.

â€œWe must intensify our activity in fight against shortcomings. I have given appropriate instruction on it early this year: Struggle against bribery, corruption must be more serious in Azerbaijan. There is enough legislation base related to it. Many instructions have been given, orders had been issued connected with it. We must eliminate such unpleasant cases. And that is why all of us â€“ both, government and citizens have to strike one targetâ€, said the President.

President Aliyev reminded that this year, Azerbaijan would mark 20th anniversary of its independence: â€œThis year, we will celebrate 20th jubilee of our independence. It is a big history and means the end of a big period. I am very glad that within these 20 years, Azerbaijan was able to protect not only the independence, but also achieved significant successes in this way. Our independence and statehood becomes stronger. Our political steps, steps taken both inside the country and in international plane, serve interests of Azerbaijani nation. We sound our opinions from different tribunes. We have own independent position connected with each issue, with each international event and we protect this position. We protect statehood, socio-political system of Azerbaijan and we will continue doing it. This is our way. Azerbaijani nation has selected this way. We will go on this way and nothing can prevent us. It is the way of development, way of contemporaneity. At the same time, all our works and activities have been established on national values, national traditions. It is main source of our strength. For establishment of contemporary country in the world, we must apply best practice corresponding our mentalityâ€.
