Working meeting of border service chiefs of Caspian states held in Azerbaijan

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA. The working meeting of the chiefs of border services of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia and Turkmenistan has been held in Baku today, press service of Azerbaijan State Border Service told APA.

The current situation in the Caspian Sea and its development trends, state and prospects of cooperation among the border services were discussed during the meeting. The sides noted the importance of working out mutual cooperation mechanism with the view of ensuring security in the Caspian Sea.

The sides discussed the outcomes of the summit of the heads of the Caspian states held in Baku on November 18, 2010, especially the â€œAgreement on security cooperation in the Caspian Seaâ€ signed during the summit, agreed to work out draft protocol on security cooperation in the Caspian Sea among the border services and to consider it at the next working meeting of the chiefs of border services of the Caspian states.

The heads of the delegations underlined the importance of continuing struggle against international terrorism, illegal migration and smuggling and illicit drug turnover.
