NATO International School of Azerbaijan begins winter session in Baku

Romanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, NATO Coordinator in the country Nikolae Ureche and NATO International Military Staff Cooperation and Regional Security Department Chief, Major-General Carlos Branco delivered opening speeches at the event.

Romanian Ambassador Nikolae Ureche said the alliance supported Azerbaijan-NATO active dialogue: â€œNATO Lisbon summit has historic character because it adopted ten-year action plan. We welcome Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation and Azerbaijanâ€™s contribution to the NATOâ€™s peacekeeping operations. NATO is very selective organization and it has very strong membership criterions. I am proud that Azerbaijani experts have attended different NATO events in the past five years. Azerbaijan plays important role in the energy security as wellâ€.

The ambassador said his diplomatic mission has been working actively in the past two years. â€œWe are trying to represent NATOâ€™s policy in Azerbaijan and our embassy organized 24 different events for thatâ€.

Then political department chief of the German mission to NATO Casper Wiek informed the participants about the importance of the NATOâ€™s new strategic concept adopted in Lisbon and challenges which must be prevented.

The session will be finished on February 6.
