Supreme Court chairman: â€œAzerbaijan stands at the middle level on the fulfillment of the decisions of the European Courtâ€

He said that 42 court decisions were canceled by ECHR from Azerbaijanâ€™s joining to the Convention on Human Rights: â€œit is true, it is unpleasant case for us that the European Court of Human rights had canceled our courtsâ€™ decisions, but it is not a big number. Naturally we can not say our country is the best or the worst in this sphere. We are in middle place in this statistics. Certainly we must for in order to prevent itâ€.

Supreme Courtâ€™s chairman said that they have analyzed every decision made by ECHR: â€œThe press often writes about unfulfillment of some courts decisions. Though the decisions of our courts do not lose their force, our decisions remain in force but it is reported about certain infringements. Unfortunately they understand and comment wrongly. It means that European Court of Human Rights does not cancel these decisions, it notes the unfulfillment of these decisionsâ€.

He also touched the complaints of the candidates from the opposition who took part in the parliamentary elections in 2005: â€œECHR has not canceled these complaints. Rzayev said that Azerbaijan accepted infringements on this issue. This issue will be overlooked, and the discussions will be held on the compensation for moral damage for themâ€ .
