David Lidington said the UK and European Union had an obvious interest in helping Azerbaijan and Armenia resolve the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh.
Minister said the recent rise in violent incidents on the Line of Contact gave cause for concern.
“We remain supportive of the Minsk Group’s efforts to help the parties to the dispute find a peaceful, sustainable and negotiated solution, and will continue to be so. But I think there is more that the EU can do, in particular in making clear what support we can offer Azerbaijan and Armenia after a settlement has been reached. Part of my task here is to assess where increased UK and EU activity could make a difference,†he said.
