Azerbaijan starts applying new rules in procedure on granting visas to foreigners and stateless persons

These rules are applied basing on the decree â€œSome issues on granting visas to foreigners and stateless persons coming to Azerbaijan Republicâ€ issued by President Ilham Aliyev on September 13.

The decree says that foreigners and stateless persons can apply directly to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry for visa only when they come to Azerbaijan Republic:
-in the cases envisaged in the interstate or intergovernmental contracts of Azerbaijan Republic;
-at the official invitation of Azerbaijanâ€™s President, Prime Minister, Speaker of the Parliament, Head of the Presidential Administration, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic;
-at the official invitation agreed by Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan Republic, Chairman of the Supreme Court, Prosecutor General, Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman), Chairman of the Central Election Commission, head of the central executive power with the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan Republic;
- when the staff of the diplomatic representations and consulates of foreign countries in Azerbaijan, representatives of international organizations, persons included into the administrative-technical service staff and their families, and foreigners come to Azerbaijan with a special diplomatic mission;
-at the official request of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan Republic for participating in elimination of the consequences of the emergency situations;
-on the occasion of the death of a family member living in Azerbaijan Republic (basing on the document certifying the death of the family member).

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry is to inform the relevant bodies of foreign countries about the changes made in the procedure on granting visas, ensure registration of the official invitations envisaged in the decree.
