Baku hosts conference â€œAzerbaijan in Euro-Atlantic space: integration priorities and realitiesâ€

According to APA, the conference was organized by the Azerbaijan Euro-Integration National Public Committee (AAMIK), Azerbaijan Public Association for Security and Defense (ATMIA) and Romanian embassy in Azerbaijan.

ATMIA president Yashar Jafarli said the conference aimed to discuss Azerbaijanâ€™s integration into the Euro-Atlantic space and to hear proposals on this issue. The proposals will be described in the document prepared at the conference.

Romanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Nikolae Ureche noted that Euro-Atlantic is a democratic society. â€œWe support the freedom, but some countries canâ€™t enjoy with this freedom. We are working to establish peace over the worldâ€.

The ambassador said his country was continuing cooperation with NATO and US and was one of the NATOâ€™s quick forces.

The diplomat said Romanian embassy would be NATOâ€™s coordinator in Azerbaijan for two years more. He said Romania received NATO mandate for coordination until 2013.

EU permanent representative in Azerbaijan Roland Kobia spoke about the EU-NATO relations, EUâ€™s role in establishing peace in the region.

The conference heard reports â€œContribution by new architecture of EU securityâ€, â€œEU-NATO cooperation: constantly strengthened partnershipâ€, â€œRomania and Euro-Atlantic integrationâ€, â€œAzerbaijan-EU, Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation: priorities and realitiesâ€, â€œEuro-Atlantic space and Azerbaijanâ€™s security prioritiesâ€.
