Iranian President’s Adviser for Caspian issues: The meeting on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, which will be held in Iran, will be very important â€“ EXCLUSIVE

Baku. Suleyman Farzaliyev â€“ APA. â€œThe five Caspian states play the major role in ensuring the security of the Caspian Sea,â€ Iranian President’s Adviser for Caspian issues, Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Mehdi Akhundzadeh told APA exclusively.

Mohammad Mehdi Akhundzadeh said the security of the Caspian Sea is first of all important for the littoral states.
â€œIf there is peace and stability in the Caspian Sea, it means the peace of the five littoral states, if security is not ensured in the Caspian Sea, first of all the littoral states will feel its bitter results. The Caspian states should be too responsible for the security of the Caspian Sea,â€ he said.

Iranian official also touched on the Baku meeting of deputy foreign ministers of the Caspian states.
â€œWe do not want these talks to be only on the theoretical level. Therefore, we offered to use these views in practice and are reaching agreement on it,â€ he said.

Akhundzadeh said a meeting on the determination of the legal status of the Caspian Sea will be held in Iran.
â€œThis meeting will be very interesting. The details of this meeting have been discussed today and a common agreement has been reached,â€ he said.

To the question â€œThe Iranian side offered establishment of the alliance to ensure security in the Caspian Sea. How does Tehran see the role of such a military alliance in the region and what other proposals does it have?â€ Mohammad Mehdi Akhundzadeh said:
â€œThe Caspian Sea should be the sea of peace. 70 percent of the issues on the legal status of the Caspian Sea has been solved. If the Caspian states agree on complete solution of the Caspianâ€™s legal status, pass final decision, then probably all issues will be solved. Iran wants to see the Caspian Sea as a sea of peace and stability. I hope it will be possible as a result of the cooperation of five littoral states,â€ he said.
