Speaking about high-level relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, Mammadyarov noted that there was wide potential for further extension of cooperation between the two countries in different spheres. Moreover, the minister noted the necessity of bringing the economic relations up to high-level political relations.
The Iranian Defense Minister said that Azerbaijan is a fraternal country for Iran. He condemned the occupation of Azerbaijani lands, expressed hope that Azerbaijani refuges and IDPs would return to their fatherland.
In turn, Mammadyarov informed the guest about negotiations conducted between the sides in the direction of solution to Armenia – Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno Karabakh.
Other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting as well.
