Araz Alizadeh: If the Armenian side considers that the only way of solution of the conflict is the recognition of Karabakhâ€™s independence, then the patriotic war is not ruled out

Nagorno Karabakh conflict has been the main theme of discussion of the Socialist Internationalâ€™s regional meeting on CIS, Caucasus and Black Sea taking place in Baku. APA reports that the representatives of Azerbaijan and Armenia gained an opportunity to exchange views on this issue. Head of Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun Bureau’s Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office Kiro Manoyan addressed the meeting first.
â€œThis conflict is rather between Karabakh and Armenia than Azerbaijan and Armenia. Karabakh never belonged to Azerbaijan, because there was not a state called Azerbaijan by 1918,â€ he said.

These views caused objection of chairman of Azerbaijan Social Democratic Party Araz Alizadeh.
â€œThere did not exist a state called Armenia at that time, there was Irevan khanate in those territories. If it comes to that, Armenia never existed as a state. There was Irevan khanate, Armenians were settled in the territory of that khanate. If you consider that there was an independent Armenian state at that time, why did your political party appeal to Musavat in 1918 and ask permission to make Irevan Armeniaâ€™s capital?â€ he said.

Kiro Manoyan said the Armenian side does not agree to Azerbaijanâ€™s proposal â€œfirst of all Azerbaijani population of Nagorno Karabakh must return to their lands, the issue of the status must be considered only after that.â€
â€œBoth sides must compromise equally. And its results must be seen now, not in future,â€ he said.

Araz Alizadeh said: â€œIf the Armenian side considers that the only way of solution of the conflict is the recognition of Karabakhâ€™s independence, then the patriotic war is not ruled out. We have no other way but to take back our lands by the military way. We say there is no Azerbaijan without Karabakh, Shusha is the beating heart of Azerbaijan. A community called Karabakh people has never existed and does not exist. By the 80s the main population of these territories had been Azerbaijanis. Basing on the census of 1913, 60 percent of Nagorno Karabakhâ€™s population was Azerbaijanis,â€ he said.
