They discussed bilateral cultural, scientific, tourism and other relations, APA reports quoting IRNA. Beygi said Iran considered Azerbaijan as a friendly and fraternal country. “Our peoples have same characters and behaviors and therefore cooperation with Azerbaijan is necessary for us”.

He said it would be better if Azerbaijan would also implement visa-free regime following Iran. “We solved the issues related to Baku-Tebriz-Mashad flight. We are waiting for Azerbaijan to take action”.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev said peoples of both countries have relative and deep cultural and historic relations. “Poets of both countries, for example Khagani, Nizami and Shahriyar, composed their poems in both Azerbaijani and Farsi”.

Garayev said two million tourists visited Azerbaijan last year and 350 000 of them were Iranian citizens. “We have good relations, but we need to make relations higher. We don’t implement visa-free regime during travels between Azerbaijan and Iran because our country is at war with Armenia. I hope that after the solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict, we will implement visa-free regime with Iran”.
