Azerbaijan explains reason of its refusal of visa-free travel between Azerbaijan and Iran

They discussed bilateral cultural, scientific, tourism and other relations, APA reports quoting IRNA. Beygi said Iran considered Azerbaijan as a friendly and fraternal country. â€œOur peoples have same characters and behaviors and therefore cooperation with Azerbaijan is necessary for usâ€.

He said it would be better if Azerbaijan would also implement visa-free regime following Iran. â€œWe solved the issues related to Baku-Tebriz-Mashad flight. We are waiting for Azerbaijan to take actionâ€.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev said peoples of both countries have relative and deep cultural and historic relations. â€œPoets of both countries, for example Khagani, Nizami and Shahriyar, composed their poems in both Azerbaijani and Farsiâ€.

Garayev said two million tourists visited Azerbaijan last year and 350 000 of them were Iranian citizens. â€œWe have good relations, but we need to make relations higher. We donâ€™t implement visa-free regime during travels between Azerbaijan and Iran because our country is at war with Armenia. I hope that after the solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict, we will implement visa-free regime with Iranâ€.
