ARTE channel of France issues statement on documentary “Nagorno Karabakh: Gomchassar” broadcasted last month

Paris – APA. The leadership of ARTE TV channel of France replied to the protest letter of the Azerbaijani embassy. Azerbaijan’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to France Elchin Amirbayov told APA that ARTE channel broadcasted a documentary “Nagorno Karabakh: Gomchassar” within the framework of the program series “All the mountains of the world” on July 14. Azerbaijani embassy in France took urgent measures, sent a protest letter to ARTE TV channel, underlined the points raising concern of Azerbaijan and paving the way for the Armenian propaganda, called on the opposite side to obey the norms of the international law. After the reaction of the embassy the channel leadership stopped the rebroadcast of the documentary scheduled for July 21.

President of ARTE TV channel Jerome Clement says in his letter to the embassy that the series “All the mountains of the world” do not aim to be engaged in the geopolitics of the mountainous regions, its aim is to cover the views, traditions, mythology or the main criteria of the local development. Jerome Clement says it is impossible to cover all the aspects of the problem in the program on Nagorno Karabakh in a short period of time, it is underlined in the film that the so-called “republic” is not recognized by the international community and temporary ceasefire has been declared. Jerome Clement says he is aware of the position of his government on the conflict, understands that Azerbaijan has sensitive approach to the issue of territorial integrity, he also expressed his gratitude to the embassy for the invitation on the visit to the region.
