Turkish President visited Tezepir Mosque in Baku

Baku â€“ APA. Turkish President Abdullah Gul, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, visited Tezepir Mosque in Baku on August 17. Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-al-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh welcomed the guest, APA reports.

The Turkish President was informed that the mosque was repaired according to the President Ilham Aliyevâ€™s order and its minarets were decorated with fine gold elements.

President Gul was also informed about the liberation of Baku by the Caucasian Islamic Army from the Armenian dashnak occupation in 1918 and welcoming the Turkish commander Nuri Pasha at the Tezepir mosque in that time.

Gul also visited the educational center of the Baku Islamic University, library of the Caucasian Muslims Office and got detailed information about six thousand copies of unique manuscripts.

The president looked at the ancient books displayed there and heard CD-records about the Tezepir Mosque. Then the Turkish President wrote cordial words in the book of honorable guests.

Memorable gifts were presented to the high-level guest.
