Bulgarian President: The resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict would contribute to the successful development of the South Caucasus

Now we have an opportunity to bring new meaning to these relations. I think these relations may serve as model relations between a European Union member state and a state of Your region,â€ President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov, who is visiting Azerbaijan, said in the statement issued after his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.
Parvanov said it will be possible to do positive analysis of the commodity turnover between the two countries, view the new structure of the commodity turnover.
â€œWe expect bigger cooperation between the related ministries and bodies. Of course, todayâ€™s negotiations can give impetus to the process of investment and this may increase the interest of investment in both directions. We also discussed these issues. I hope these issues will be included into the agenda of the related institutions and ministries,â€ he said.

Bulgarian President positively assessed the energy talks.
â€œOur relations are developing in this field, there are positive results. We are pleased with the opportunity for Bulgaria to buy one billion cu m Azerbaijanâ€™s gas. The cooperation in this field will be established from next year. I think it would be a significant contribution to the energy security of my country. We appreciate the activity of the combined working group. It envisages delivery of the compressed gas from Azerbaijan to Europe via Bulgaria. If our first project has bilateral character, compressed gas project may have broader regional importance. I think it would contribute to the diversification of the sources and ways of transportation of the energy resources. It will also favor Azerbaijan. So, Azerbaijan will have direct access to Europeâ€™s energy market. Concrete issues â€“ volume of transportation, ways of transportation of the natural gas are being discussed within the framework of the working group, various bodies are participating in the implementation of this project. I especially want to underline our cooperation in security, science, education and culture. Bulgaria as a participant of the European institutions will take part in the formation of the policy on the region, especially friendly Azerbaijan. We will try to bring greater meaning, content to various initiatives, particularly Eastern partnership initiative. We are doing it so that the peoples here can feel that their problems are in the focus of Europeâ€™s attention, especially in terms of energyâ€¦â€ he said.
Bulgarian President also touched on Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
â€œWe are working together with the European institutions and give necessary support to the Minsk Group for the resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno Karabakh. We want this conflict to be solved fairly soon, because the resolution of this conflict would contribute to the successful development of the South Caucasus. We will continue to support the activity of the Minsk Group and various other institutions,â€ he said.
