Ali Hasanov: For us the main point in the relations with the US is the attitude of the country as a super power towards the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh problem

Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. â€œThe attitude of the US, one of the co-chairing countries, towards the problem, towards the future resolution of the conflict, its approach to the issue as priority is interesting. On the other hand, this visit is certainly important in terms of analyzing the relations between the United States and Azerbaijan in the previous years, planning the future actions. Therefore, we attach great importance to this visit,â€ chief of socio-political department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov told journalists while commenting on the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clintonâ€™s visit to Azerbaijan scheduled for July 4, APA reports.
â€œWe think that meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, other officials of Azerbaijan, media Hillary Clinton will express her views at first hand on Azerbaijan-US relations, the attitude of the US,â€ he said.

Ali Hasanov said the priorities taken by the US in the relations with Azerbaijan â€“ security, energy security, democracy, human rights â€“ are also accepted by Azerbaijan.
â€œWe also accept these priorities, but for us the main point is the attitude of the US as a super power towards the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh problem, release of the occupied Azerbaijani territories. Therefore, Azerbaijan establishes its relations with the foreign countries basing on their attitude towards the Nagorno Karabakh problem. We are establishing relations with the US on energy security, international security, struggle against international terrorism, joint participation in the international peacemaking operations, cooperation in the field of democracy and human rights, and taking into account the countryâ€™s approach towards the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh problem and the action taken by the country concerning Nagorno Karabakh problem,â€ he said.

Presidential Administrationâ€™s official underlined that the visit of the U.S. Secretary of State or other senior officials to Azerbaijan is good.
â€œAnyway, this visit will differ from the one made 18 years ago. Then Azerbaijan was not formed as an independent state, the priorities of Azerbaijanâ€™s domestic, foreign policy, strategy, tactics of its relations with the foreign countries were not known. Then these meetings were simply accidental and the foreign countries were learning Azerbaijan. But today Azerbaijan has internal and foreign interests, its foreign and domestic policy has its priorities. Thatâ€™s why Azerbaijanâ€™s contacts with the foreign countries are not accidental, they are planned,â€ he said.

Ali Hasanov said Azerbaijan is completely satisfied with the statement issued by the presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries.
â€œAzerbaijan is completely satisfied with the statement. First of all, all three co-chairing countries admit the fact of occupation of Azerbaijani territories. The statement demands the withdrawal of the Armenian troops from the occupied territories, contains will of the countries concerning the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh problem. As regards the distortion, mistranslation of the statement on various websites, we call it a mechanical mistake,â€ he said.
