Bulgarian president starts his visit to Azerbaijan

Purvanov and Aliyev will review the two countries’ political, trade and economic relations, and will discuss the development and implementation of strategic energy projects with the participation of the two countries.
According to two memorandums signed between Bulgaria’s Economy, Energy and Tourism Ministry and Azerbaijan’s Industry and Energy Ministry, and between Bulgaria’s state-owned Bulgartransgaz and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR), signed in Sofia last November, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan will participate in a project for transportation of Azeri compressed natural gas to Bulgaria via Georgia and across the Black Sea. The relevant working group is in the process of completing the feasibility study for the project.
The sides will also discuss Purvanov’s last week proposal, made at last week’s meeting with Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul, for a trilateral meeting of the gas companies of Bulgaria, Turkey and Azerbaijan to agree on the specific parameters of cooperation in the transportation of natural gas from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria.
