Azerbaijan informed UN about recent shots on line of contact

Washington. Isabel Levine – APA. The Azerbaijani side has informed the United Nations about the recent fire shots between Azerbaijan and Armenia at the ceasefire, APA’s Washington DC correspondent was told at the UN Head Quarters.

According to the UN information office, Ambassador Agshyn Mehtiyev, Representative of the Azerbaijani Republic to the UN office in New-York, has recently provided to the UN General Assembly Security Council a letter that lists the fire shots between from the Armenian side during the month of May, 2010.

“We get these updates on regular basis. Both sides of the conflict are providing us this information. The Ambassador asked to circulate this letter as a document of the General Assembly under agenda items 14 (Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development) and 18 (The situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan) and the Security Council. This request is taken into consideration”, a representative of the UN information office said.

The source added that these data are in open access for all the members of the Security Council who would like to review them.

According to Ambassador Mehtiyev’s letter during the month of May fire shots from 38 directions at different time were made by the Armenian side.

The UN information office representative said that the Armenian side is providing its information as well. Their just recently sent their update on the ceasefire violations as well.
