European Union and Azerbaijan held a Seminar on Mobility and Visas

The seminar was prepared in the context of the implementation of the Eastern Partnership program in Azerbaijan.
"The European Union is ready to offer increased mobility for citizens from partner countries willing to ensure that the conditions for a well managed and secure mobility are in place. For that matter, the dialogue we have established with Azerbaijan is very encouraging". Ambassador Roland Kobia, Head of the EU Delegation in Baku said in his opening speech.

The seminar was organized with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Deputy Foreign Minister Mammadguliyev and Ambassador Kobia opened the session on the 17th of June, calling for concrete results and for an action plan to be established.

During the seminar, participants from relevant Azerbaijan ministries and agencies exchanged with European Commission officials and experts on Mobility issues. Visa policy, visa facilitation and readmission agreement, EU global approach to migration, document security and asylum were among the themes covered during the session.

The seminar organized in Baku allowed in depth discussions between EU and Azerbaijan partners to strengthen collaboration and cooperation.
The European Commission delegation from the Directorate General Justice, Freedom and Security was led by Luigi Soreca, Head of Unit "External Relations and Enlargement", and included Dafni Goglou, Head of section Visa as well as Diederik Paalman and Francois Chauvin. Other participating EU experts were Ioannis Raptakis from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, and Wolfgang Bartsch from the Administrative Court Baunschweig in Germany.
