Ambassador Boris Klimchuk: â€œUkraine supports restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijanâ€

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. Ukraineâ€™s ambassador to Azerbaijan Boris Klimchuk held a press conference about bilateral relations and annual results. According to APA, the ambassador called outgoing 2009 as a successful year from the view of development of the bilateral relations. He said Azerbaijan and Ukraine had same position in all international organizations.

Speaking about the economic relationship, the ambassador said according to the statistics of Azerbaijan, mutual trade turnover was 474 million dollars in the past 10 months. Azerbaijan imported mostly electronic equipments and basic metals from Ukraine and purchased 500 Slavuta vehicles for disabled people as well. The ambassador said the last yearâ€™s annual trade turnover was one billion dollar and 800 million dollars this year, but it is expected to exceed one billion next year.

The diplomat said 500 000 ethnic Azerbaijanis became the citizens of Ukraine and took an active part in the political and economic life of the country. He also said that 48 Azerbaijani citizens were in jail in Ukraine and 13 Ukrainians in Azerbaijan.

Responding the question about the Ukrainian Inter Televisionâ€™s report about Nagorno Karabakh, the ambassador said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine issued statement on this issue. â€œUkraine doesnâ€™t change its position on Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Ukraine supports peaceful solution to the conflict on the basis of international principles and restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijanâ€.
