APA’s Moscow correspondent reports that the book gives information about the “Izvestiya-Azerbaijan” Russia-Azerbaijan media project initiated by Heydar Aliyev and implemented by Moscow and Baku journalists. The book covers the formation of Azerbaijan’s image, elements that form the basis of the country’s image in the world and Russia.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu said Azerbaijan faced a severe information blackout during the collapse of the USSR and in the first years of its independence. After Heydar Aliyev returned to power, the main attention was focused on the elimination of the information blackout.

The author of the book Oleg Tsiganov spoke about the history of the “Izvestiya-Azerbaijan” project and Heydar Aliyev’s role in the formation of Azerbaijan’s positive image in the world arena.

Azerbaijani MP, honored journalist Elmira Akhundova underlined that the book reflected the practice of a big journalist group. Akhundova said the Soviet journalists differed from the present youth for their high sense of responsibility. The parliamentarian regarded the work of the author as heroism and said Tsiganov deserved “Friendship” order.
