No progress in Karabakh complicates Armenian-Turkish protocols ratification, Turkish media says

Baku â€“ APA. â€œRow around the Armenian-Turkish protocols was created on Karabakh. Despite that the documents donâ€™t contain Karabakh issue, it was said that if there was no progress in the solution of Karabakh problem, Turkey wouldnâ€™t ratify protocols. Ankara doesnâ€™t change its positionâ€, said Kadrik Gursel, analyst of the Turkish â€œMilliyyetâ€ newspaper, at his meeting with Armenian journalists in Yerevan. He said if there was no progress in Karabakh, it would complicate the ratification of the protocols. â€œThe protocols will be ratified certainly, but the Turkish side can make it in the different form and use other methodsâ€. Gursel appreciated the pre-conditional signing of the protocols as a positive case. â€œI am also against the condition about Karabakh, but the government has to put this condition. There is a pressure on the government. Azerbaijanâ€™s pressure influences on the society, which in its turn pressure on the government. The politics always have surprisesâ€.

CNN Turk News Producer Ferhat Boratav noted that Turkey and Armenia is not a pair dancing tango. â€œAmerica, Russia and Azerbaijan are also dancing it. No one expected such resistance from Azerbaijan and no one thinks that Azerbaijan can be a side, which pressure up in the East-West energy game. Turkeyâ€™s problem is in thatâ€. Boratav said it was not strange that Turkey discussed with Azerbaijan the protocols it signed with Armenia. He said Armenian president explained the essence of the protocols to the Armenian Diaspora â€œTurkey tries to persuade Azerbaijan while Serzh Sargsyan was trying to do that with Armenian Diaspora. But it can not achieve that yetâ€. Gursel said Armenian-Turkish relationship was a part of regional problems and Azerbaijan should participate in these processes as a regional country. He recommended Armenian to understand and to accept this reality.
